We learn early on that Ross Poldark is not your typical landed gentry. Winston Graham was an English novelist best known for the Poldark series of historical novels set in Cornwall. He was born in 1930 in Victoria Park, Manchester, United Kingdom and he died in 2003 in London. He was blessed with a wife and two children, and some of his books have been turned into movies. Winston Graham was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature (FRSL) and in 1983 was invested an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). In his death, he left behind a son and daughter.
